Fatimah Khanum ‘Ismat al-Dawlah

Fatimah Khanum ʻIsmat al-Dawlah, daughter of Khujastah Khanum and Nasir al-Din Shah, was born in 1855 (or 1856). She was the second daughter of Nasir al-Din Shah and married Dust Muhammad Khan (the ten year-old son of Dust ʻAli Khan Muʻayyir al-Mamalik in 1866 (or 1867). Their children were: ʻIsmat al-Muluk, Amir Dustʻali Khan, Fakhr al-Taj Khanum, and Dust Muhammad Khan Iʻtisam al-Dawlah. ʻIsmat al-Dawlah became very sick in 1905. On August 31 of the same year she died of ague in Sawhanak and was buried in Hazrat-i ʻAbd al-ʻAzim near her father.

Amir Dust Muhammad Khan, ʻIsmat al-Dawlah's husband, left Iran secretly in 1881 (or 1882) for Europe. He came back in 1884 after his wife mediated between him and Nasir al-Din Shah. ʻIsmat al-Dawlah learned playing the piano and embroidery from a French tutor, Madam Clementine. She was the host for the wives of the foreign guests who visited Iran. ʻIsmat al-Dawlah became very sick in 1905. On August 31 of the same year she died of ague in Sawhanak and was buried in Hazrat ʻAbd al-ʻAzim near her father. Close
