Shukuh al-Saltanah was the daughter of Shahrbanu Khanum (daughter of Muhammad Ibrahim Khan Zahir al-Dawlah, governor of Kirman) and Fath Allah Mirza Shu'a’ al-Saltanah (the 35th child of Fath 'Ali Shah). She was the mother of Muzaffar al-Din Shah. Born in 1838, she became a permanent wife of Nasir al-Din Shah in 1852. Iʻtimad al-Saltanah writes in Khayrat-i Hisan that Shukuh al-Saltanah was a pious woman and had the attention of Shah among his wives. Shah had allocated her the Sahibqaraniyah palace and Haji Muhammad Khan was her special minister. Whenever Muzaffar al-Din Mirza, then the Crown Prince, visited Tehran he used to stay in her house. Becuase of her seniority at the Court, Shukuh al-Saltanah used to name the Shah's children. She became ill in April 1892 and died on 12 May 1892 at the age of 55. She was buried close to the Shrine of Hazrat ʻAbd al-ʻAzim. Close
