d. 31 May 1904 Tehran

Shah Sultan Khanum (‘Izziyah Khanum), the daughter of Hajiyah Kulsum Khanum and Mirza ‘Abbas Nuri (Mirza Buzurg), was born in 1813 in Tehran. A sister of Mirza Yahya Subh-i Azal and Mirza Husayn‘ali Baha’ Allah, she rejected the claims of her brother Mirza Husayn ‘Ali Baha’ Allah in the well-known book Tanbih al-Na’imin, which she wrote as a response to a letter from ‘Abbas Afandi, her nephew. She corresponded with Zarrin Taj Qazvini (known as Qurrat al-‘Ayn and Tahirah) over the three years that she was imprisoned in the house of Mirza Mahmud Khan Kalantar. ‘Izziyah Khanum died on May 31, 1904, at the age of 84, and was buried at Imamzadah Ma‘sum, Tehran.
