Letter from Mahd-i ‘Ulya to Nasir al-Din Shah, 1867
Mahd-i ‘Ulya writes about receiving news of the conquests and describes her dream: while she and the late Baha’ al-Dawlah’s wife and Bahram Mirza’s wife were saying prayers at Imam Riza’s shrine, Nasir al-Din Shah enters and starts his prayer. At this time, the Imam comes out of the shrine with a green turban and puts his hands on the Shah’s forehead which has fallen on the Imam’s feet, commends him for his efforts and promises to fulfill his wishes. He gifts the Shah a sword and asks why he had not brought more lamps to his shrine. On verso is Nasir al-Din Shah’s note about receiving this letter.
