Letter, probably from Hamid al-Sultan, from Urumiyah to Tabriz; it conveys greetings for ‘Ayd-i Fitr; mentions that he has not received a response to the letter sent before the Ahya‘ [vigil] nights; notes sending fifteen qirans to his sister and five tumans to Karbalayi Muhammad the tailor; mentions ‘Amid Lashkar’s letter; reports that he cannot find a pair of good-quality, golden upper-arm bracelets in Urumiyah, so he proposes to send the money (asking for a less expensive price) to the addresee in order for her to purchase them herself, as the ones in Tabriz are better; he further reports that he is sending two tumans for ‘Ali Akbar Siraj and, upon the addressee’s request, is sending fifty tumans’ worth of promissory notes via ‘Amid Lashkar in order for her to loan it and earn a monthly revenue from it; mentions a sealed envelope along with the letter and asks her not to open it and keep it safe, as it contains important documents; sends six tumans to be donated to the poor for charity for ‘Ayd-i Fitr; greets ‘Amid Lashkar and Sarkar ‘Illiyah Khanum; inquires about ‘Alaviyah Khanum and Sultan Khanum, the wife of Mashhadi Vali; asks whether Shawkat Khanum, Abu al-Fazl’s mother, is in town or has gone to the village and whether Mudir al-Iyalah’s family has departed; requests some dishes and to have ‘Amid Lashkar write their letters to protect themselves against the evil eye, although they don’t have anything to hide; inquires about the well-being of Sadiqah and Safiyah, how she dealt with them during Ramadan, and whether she got angry with them and beat them; he also mentions the bottles of rose water, pussy willow water, and yarrow water that he sent, which are available from Haji Abu al-Qasim or Haji Husayn Aqa Urumchi, who has a shop at the plaza of Haji Mirza Jalil; at the end, he promises to visit soon.
