Amin Aqdas (Zubaydah) was an orphan, who was purchased for 6 tumans by Nasir al-Din Shah during his trip to the western provinces of Iran in 1859. She was married to Nasir al-Din Shah as a temporary wife in 1860. Among her duties were care of the Shah's jewels and the andarun accounts, for which she received the title "Amin Aqdas." She died on August 3rd, 1891 and was buried near Hazrat ʻAbd al-ʻAzim shrine.

Amin Aqdas (Zubaydah) was an orphan purchased for 6 tumans by Nasir al-Din Shah during his trip to the western provinces of Iran in 1859. She was raised by the servants in the Nasiri court. Within a year, she mastered the court's manners and was married to Nasir al-Din Shah as a temporary wife in 1860. Among her duties were care of the Shah's beloved cats (such as Babri Khan). In 1861, after the death of Zaʻfaran Baji, who was in charge of the Shah's jewels and the andarun accounts, Zubaydah took her place and received the title of "Amin Aqdas." In 1884, Amin Aqdas began to lose her eyesight and was treated by Iranian and foreign physicians. After the return of Nasir al-Din Shah from his third trip to Europe, in 1889 he sent Amin Aqdas to Austria for treatment. The trip was in vain and she came back to Iran uncured. After her return, Amin Aqdas went to Khurasan and resided in Mashhad for several months. In July 1891, she became paralyzed after a stroke. She is said to have been one of the only three people who did not join the boycott against consuming tobacco; the other two were Amin al-Sultan and Nasir al-Din Shah. Zubaydah Khanum Amin Aqdas died on August 3rd, one day after another stroke. She was buried near Hazrat ʻAbd al-ʻAzim shrine. All of her property was inherited by her nephew, Ghulam ʻAli Khan ʻAziz al-Sultan. Close
