Wills of Iskandar Khan, 1904 to 1908

1- In his will, dated October 20, 1904, Haj Iskandar Khan Yavar has appointed Aqa Mir Asad Allah and Aqa Mu‘tamad al-Sultan Aqa Mirza Mahdi Khan Muntasir Lashkar the executors of his and his wife’s wills and Mulla Isma‘il Shaykh al-Islam as their overseer. According to a separate document, he has given a fifth of his belongings, including properties, household furnishings, clothing, and the mahr to his wife [Baygum Khanum]. Of what remains, after deducting his debts, a third should be spent on: thirty years of prayers and fasts on his behalf, the Hajj, his burial in Najaf, and charity. The rest belongs to the inheritors and the children of his brothers; 2- the will of Haji Iskandar Khan the colonel, dated March 12, 1908, which names his wife as the overseer and in which it is noted that one-fifth of his property was given to his wife, the daughter of Aqa Mirza ‘Abd al-Husayn, for her mahr. He designates one-third of his belongings to be spent on religious expenses, including fasts, prayers, Hajj pilgrimage, and his funeral after payment of his debts. The rest should be divided amongst the inheritors.
