Probably from Hamid al-Sultan to ‘Amid Lashkar; discusses receiving a twenty-five tuman promissory note via the merchant of Dilmaqan and delivering it to Sarkar ‘Illiyah, the delay in the payment of their salaries and other work-related issues, the cold weather, leveling of the roads, the new street, demolition of Nawbar bazaar; notes that the repairs have not yet reached their neighborhood and that the writer has not received any news from the villages because of the cold weather and closed roads; reports that Muhammad Khan and Haji ‘Abd Allah Khan have come on foot and that Sawlat al-Saltanah is, upon the writer’s request, reserving four kharvars [unit of weight] of wheat that have not yet been delivered; mentions Mustafa Khan’s talking, the humidity in the rooms, the onset of some diseases, the closing of the girls’ and boys’ schools for one to three weeks and the higher schools closing at noon, that the pickle jars women made are exploding due to the cold, and dead dogs, cats, and birds are seen everywhere. At the end, he sends greetings on behalf of Sarkar ‘Illiyah and other women from Marziyah to Najibah, and mentions that Abu al-Fath Khan’s attire was stolen at work.
