Family letter, 1915
Probably from Hamid al-Sultan, on the letterhead of the Salmas governorate; the writer expresses happiness about the well-being of the addressee and Sarkar ‘Illiyah and his pleasure at seeing that the letter was in the handwriting of Mashhadiyah Khanum; given the access to her, Safiyah’s mother should not ask anyone else to write these letters, it is not good for strangers to learn about the family’s secrets; talks about arriving at Salmas from Khuy and his government position, noting that the weather is better in Salmas and his chest feels better; mentions Dabir al-Sultan and urges Muhammad Khan to come to Salmas sooner, since it is a good time to get a job there; he is expecting Muntasir Lashkar’s letter; mentions Mirza ‘Alinaqi Aqa; sends his greetings to Sarkar ‘Illiyah Khanum; and asks them to send their letters to Salmas from now on.
