Envelope from Hamid al-Sultan sent from Urumiyah via Mashhadi Husayn Aqa to Hamid al-Sultan’s house at Shahzadah’s residence in Tabriz, dated August 26, 1914; the letter, dated August 25, probably to his wife, mentions: that he would let them know and send the cost of travel himself if he wanted them to come to Urumiyah; Dabir al-Sultan’s departure toward Tabriz; a complaint that she does not write regularly; her request for a gold upper-arm bracelet for her sister, saying that he is sending eight tumans so she can give them to Sarkar ‘Illiyah to purchase one in Tabriz, as they have better quality there; that he told Dabir al-Sultan that Muhammad Khan can come to Urumiyah whenever he is inclined, provided that he comes with a horse, since getting one in Urumiyah is difficult and costly and that Hamid al-Sultan will help him to find a job and a house; he has sent an attire with Dabir al-Sultan and she can choose one, either this one or that which was sent before, to give to Buyuk Khanum’s mother; Dabir al-Sultan’s difficulty in getting time off from work. Hamid al-Sultan expresses disappointment that he has not heard from Aqa Riza Quli; asks about well-being of Sadiqah and Safiyah; mentions getting the money from Haji Abu al-Qasim; inquires about several people; wonders what day was declared ‘Ayd-i Fitr in Tabriz; notes that Yusuf, one of the local offenders, was arrested and crucified at the Hizaran gate; discusses ‘Ali Akbar providing winter legumes for the household; advises against writing about anything other than the family’s well-being; mentions his disappointment with Sawlat al-Sultan; expresses happiness about the marriage of Muntasir Lashkar; and wishes health for Haji Khan.
