Letter from Hamid al-Sultan, 1914
Probably from Hamid al-Sultan; discusses: news of Mudir al-Iyalah’s departure to Tabriz on Friday to bring his son, Baqir Khan, to his own house; having sent a letter and an outfit with him and asking the addressee to give the outfit to his sister and to let him know if Sarkar ‘Illiyah likes it so he can send one for her as well; sending six bottles of rose water, six bottles of pussy willow water, and one bottle of yarrow water, which is good for stomach pain, via Abu al-Qasim Aqa and advises the recipient to make sure that Ma‘sum receives the package and not to accept any broken bottles; his requests that the addressee not discuss the writer with Mirza Baqir Khan when he comes to the city, to advise the family not to talk to Rubabah about personal issues because it is better that they keep quiet about their family matters, and to tell people that he is always unhappy when asked; his dicision to go to Tabriz during Ramadan for Ahya’ [vigil] nights to see the family and that if they do not let him take a leave, he will go to Tabriz in Muharram and not return, even if they pay him one hundred tumans a day; his inquiry about Haji Khan’s recovery; the suggestion to keep this letter in front of the addressees when respondng to it in order to avoid leaving his questions unanswered; Mirza Abu al-Fazl’s work; and sending a payment to Haj ‘Ali Akbar.
