Letter from Hamid al-Sultan
Probably from Hamid al-Sultan; he writes that his only delight is hearing about his two children and family and that he gets worried when he has no letters from them and the addressee; expresses his condolences for the death of Zari Khanum and ‘Alaviyah Khanum’s daughter; accepts Muntasir Lashkar’s request to send some bottles of wine and arak, provided that he accepts the costs; discusses sending bottles of pussy willow water and rose water; mentions Safiyah’s request for money to buy clothes and sending one tuman for the children to buy shoes and summer goods; informs the addressee of sending three photographs of himself and replies to Muntasir Lashkar’s comment by mentioning that the photographer is his friend and is not charging him; and comments on other issues, such as: sending money to buy food for winter; his debt to ‘Alaviyah Khanum; sending greetings to Sarkar ‘Illiyah Khanum and asking for her prayers; Abu al-Fazl’s arrival at Urumiyah, where, for the sake of his mother, the writer introduced him to Dabir al-Sultan and he now has a stable job in the cabinet; Dabir al-Sultan’s summoning his family to Urumiyah and suggesting that he do the same; and whether ‘Ali Abbas has delivered Haji Ahmad’s rose.
