Taj al-Muluk Farmanfarma’iyan to Zahra Sultan ‘Izzat al-Saltanah, 1935

Taj al-Muluk Farmanfarma’iyan writes to her mother Zahra Sultan ‘Izzat al-Saltanah, from Berlin, to pass along her father [‘Abbas Mirza Salar Lashkar]’s last words: that he has faith in ‘Izzat al-Saltanah and that she should keep his children happy. Taj al-Muluk tells ‘Izzat al-Saltanah that she has promised this to her father on her mother’s behalf. Then she talks about the illness of Afsar al-Saltanah and Khanum Vafa and all the sadness she is dealing with. She describes the kindness of her paternal uncle and her plans to have surgery on her nose and to remove her tonsils. She asks her mother to write to her extensively as she is distressed about not being with her family during these hard times. She mentions her father’s wish to donate one hundred tumans to charity. Taj al-Muluk then asks ‘Izzat al-Saltanah not to change anything in her father’s office, so his children can keep it as a memento of him.
