  According to the Collection owner: Bibi Mahallati (one of Fath ‘Ali Shah’s daughters) gave the original piece (a sari) to ‘Izzat al-Saltanah (‘Izzat al-Dawlah’s daughter-in-law and the wife of ‘Abbas Mirza Salar Lashgar) after ‘Izzat al-Dawlah (the daughter of Muzaffar al-Din Shah and wife of ‘Abd al-Husayn Farmanfarma) invited Bibi Mahallati to her home. ‘Izzat al-Saltanah, in turn, gave it to her daughter, ‘Izzat al-Muluk Farmanfarmayan Pirniya (owner of this Collection). ‘Izzat al-Muluk asked a tailor to change the original sari to its current design.
