The manuscript was commissioned by Iʻtizad al-Saltanah, Minister of Science, during the reign of Nasir al-Din Shah and prepared by Mirza ʻAbd al-Ghaffar Najm al-Dawlah, son of Mirza ʻAli Muhammad Isfahani, with the help of eight students from Dar al-Funun.
