Taj al-Saltanah

Zahra Khanum Taj al-Saltanah, the daughter of Maryam Turan al-Saltanah and Nasir al-Din Shah Qajar, was born on February 4, 1884. She married Hasan Khan Shujaʻ al-Saltanah (the son of Muhammad Baqir Khan Sardar Akram) on November 19, 1893, when she was nine years old. They had four children: Turan al-Dawlah (Qamar Taj), Fakhr Iran, Amir ʻAbbas (Dibaj), and Fakhr Zaman. She was divorced in 1906 or 1907, and married Qullar Aqasi on March 17, 1908. This marriage also ended in divorce. She died on January 25, 1936 in Tehran and was buried in Zahir al-Dawlah cemetery.

Zahra Khanum Taj al-Saltanah, the daughter of Maryam Turan al-Saltanah and Nasir al-Din Shah Qajar, was born on February 4,1884. She was the twelfth daughter of Nasir al-Din Shah. Taj al-Saltanah married Hasan Khan Shujaʻ al-Saltanah (the son of Muhammad Baqir Khan Sardar Akram) on November 19, 1893, when she was ten years old. The wedding ceremony was held at the beginning of Muzaffar al-Din Shah's reign in 1896 or 1897 in Shujaʻ al-Saltanah's house. In 1899 or 1900, Taj al-Saltanah's father-in-law became the administrator of Azarbayjan and took his son and daughter-in-law with him to Azarbayjan. Taj al-Saltanah and Shujaʻ al-Saltanah had four children, named Turan al-Dawlah (Qamartaj), Fakhr Iran, Amir ʻAbbas (Dibaj), and Fakhr Zaman. After a while, Taj al-Saltanah returned to Tehran and started to learn music (from Mirza ʻAbd Allah), painting, and French. Taj al-Saltanah enjoyed reading European literature. In 1905 or 1906, she intended to travel to Europe but was prevented from doing so. After the Constitutional Revolution, she became a member of the Anjuman-i Hurriyat-i Nisvan. She divorced her first husband and married Qullar Aqasi on March 17, 1908. This marriage also ended in divorce. In 1913, encouraged by her aunt's grandson, Sulayman Khan Sipahbudi, she wrote her memoir entitled "Khatirat-i Taj al-Saltanah", which was published in 1982. She died in January 25, 1936 in Tehran and was buried in Zahir al-Dawlah cemetery. Close
