‘Izzat Malik Khanum (Ashraf al-Saltanah)

‘Izzat Malik Khanum, daughter of Imamquli Mirza Dawlatshahi (‘Imad al-Dawlah), was born in 1863 in Kirmanshah. In 1871, she married Muhammad Hasan Khan I‘timad al-Saltanah (as his second wife). Three years after I‘timad al-Saltanah's death, she married Haj Sayyid Husayn Nayib al-Tavaliyah. Ashraf al-Saltanah died in 1914 in Mashhad.

‘Izzat Malik Khanum (Ashraf al-Saltanah) was one of the earliest women photographers and journalists in the Qajar period. She also made a copy of I‘timad al-Saltanah's daily journal and, after Nasir al-Din Shah's death, reclaimed the journal form Muzaffar al-Din Shah; the journal remained with her until her death. Surur al-Saltanah (Nasir al-Din Shah's wife), Sultan Ibrahim Mirza (Mishkat al-Dawlah), Badi‘ al-Mulk Mirza (‘Imad al-Dawlah), ‘Aliquli Mirza (Sarim al-Dawlah), and Murtaza Quli Mirza (Mansur al-Saltanah) were among her siblings.
