My dear Mrs. Platt: Your kind letter, the packages for Dr. Clock and the gum you so kindly sent were delivered to us by Mr. Jefferson. Thank you very much for your good wishes conveyed in your letter and thank you also for the gum which we have greatly enjoyed. I am sure that Dr. Clock and Miss Kappes will be very happy to receive the packages from you. It is splendid that you are such a good friend to them and the school. You are doing a great work by helping such a good cause. Thus far we have had a very good voyage. The sea was rather rough for a few days but fortunately we were not very sea sick. We hope to arrive at Bergen early tomorrow morning and are quite happy at the prospects, as this has been rather a long voyage. I assure you, dear Mrs. Platt, that meeting you has given me much pleasure and I hope that I may see you again. I hope I may hear from you once in a while at least. I shall certainly try to find out about your funds and inform you. Of course, I shall take great care not to offend any one interested in the good work.
