Notes
An amulet ring, most likely worn for apotropaic purposes to bring good fortune and ward off evil. The markings on the ring are a 4x4 wafq, or “magic square,” filled with numbers calculated using the abjad system. Most likely, the wafq is made for a specific wearer, whose name has been calculated into the numbers in the square along with other elements, like specific names of God and spiritual agents who make the ring efficacious.
