‘Abd al-Husayn Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk to Surur al-Saltanah
‘Abd al-Husayn Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk (Taymurtash)’s letter to his wife, Surur al-Saltanah, telling her that he was writing this letter in the middle of the night while she is either asleep or in mourning [for Tasu‘a] and is not thinking of him, yet Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk is only thinking of her even though it is Tasu‘a [the 9th day of Muharram] instead of mourning for Imam Husayn. He apologizes for not being able to come to the Rawzah and tells her that he will bring this letter himself tomorrow since he is going to see Fakham al-Saltanah, so that they would go to Sardar Hishmat together. He states that the Rawzah ceremonies in the Majlis were to start the following afternoon. At the end, he declares his hope that Surur keep her promise at the end of this ten day period, which would make him one of the luckiest people of all times.
