Sale document and settlement between the daughters of Gawhari Khanum, 1908

Sale document and settlement between the children of Gawhari Khanum: five newly built shops in the backside of Mirza Kazim’s Saray, close to Shahzadah Husayn and the Karavansaray gate, belong to the five daughters of Aqa Mirza Ismaʻil Farid al-Dawlah, namely, Batul Khanum, Rubab Khanum, Rabiʻah Khanum, Munavvar Khanum, and Maʻsumah Khanum. Each of the daughters owns part of the shops and also they are owners of a mercery, a grocery, and two stands in Hamadan’s Chahar Suq. Because some people claimed the shops on backside of Mirza Kazim’s Saray and because two daughters are underage (Munavvar Khanum and Maʻsumah Khanum), the daughters’ shares of these shops were exchanged with their shares in Chahar Suq. Thus, based on the request of their mother (Gawhari Khanum), according to the will, and under the permission of Zu al-Riyasatayn and Iftikhar al-Mulk, Rabiʻah Khanum settled the newly built shops in Mirza Kazim’s hall with her two underaged sisters (Munavvar Khanum and Maʻsumah Khanum) and Batul Khanum and Rubab Khanum received whatever shares they had from the shops in Chahar Suq plus forty tumans. Gawhari Khanum emphasized that if there were claims in fifty years [from the time of the settlement] over the settled properties, the claimant should pay the fine.
